Open Water Swim Start Date-Thursday, June, 25th at 6:30pm
Jun 25, 2009
Ladies and Gentlemen,
After a two week delay, I am happy to report that the Open Water Swim will start
this Thursday June 25th, at 6:30pm.
I will be at Professor's Lake by 5:45pm. To assist me with the Registration
process please put your completed/signed waivers and payment ( cash or
cheque payable to FMCT) in an envelope with your name written on it.
We will have as many as 40 people coming on Thursday and this will certainly
make things faster and easier for me and Terri Ritter who will be assisting me
with registration.
I have attached an updated list of those taking part and also the Waivers.
For those that are new to the Open Water Swim and as a reminder to those from
last year, we follow a very simple sign in and sign out procedure which is as
follows:
- once you arrive at Professor's Lake you may change into your wetsuit in the
change room and then make your way to the ramp where the swim starts.
- at the top of that ramp you will find a binder on top of a chair with a sign in sheet.
- sign/print your name and the time that you are entering the water.
- swim as many loops as you like but ensure that you are out of the water by 8:00pm.
(do not start your last loop if you will not be finished by 8:00pm)
- at the conclusion of your swim go back to that binder and sign/print your name
and the time that you are exiting the water.
With so many swimmers it is imperative that we know that everyone has safely
exited the water. If you have not signed out we will have to assume you are missing
and initiate the Emergency Procedures that are in place. I have attached copies of
those procedures.
So please make sure you follow this simple sign in and sign out procedure, it will ensure
your safety and that this great training opportunity continues.
Finally, after the swim many of us will go for a run around Professor's Lake. For those
that are new to the club but want to take part in the run we will do a group run the first
couple of weeks to make make sure you are familiar with the route. It is a 3km loop and
you can do as many loops as you like.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday.
Bill
