2008 Winter Spin Class

Oct 17, 2008

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In recent e-mails, our club president, Jim Dalzell explained the affiliation FMCT has now obtained with the City of Brampton. This partnership has resulted in reduced membership and building rental costs. It also placed an onus on FMCT to look at the City of Brampton recreational facilities when organizing club events.

This caused us to review our Indoor Bike Training Sessions and consider past complaints. The two main areas were time (earlier the better) and cost ( up front and per session afterwards). To satisfy these two concerns the FMCT executive has decided to end our relationship with Aubrey Bryce. This was a difficult decision because we have all enjoyed and benefited from Aubrey's coaching.

For 2009, the FMCT Executive decided to look in house for a new Indoor Bike Training coach. I am pleased to announce that Rob McCue has agreed to take on this role.

In 2008, Rob took on the role of Club coach. Rob was pivotal in organizing our Tuesday bike rides, weekend training rides and the Mega Days. Rob is an experienced duathlete with a wealth of knowledge. More importantly, Rob has a passion for the sport (triathlon/duathlon) and the desire to teach others.

The Indoor Bike Training sessions will take place at:

Location: South Fletchers Sportsplex
#500 Ray Lawson Blvd., Brampton

On Saturday mornings from 9:00am to 11:00am on the following dates:

Nov 15, 22, 29
Dec 6, 13, 20
Jan 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
Feb 7, 14, 21, 28
Mar 7, 14, 21
Apr 4, 11

The format of the Indoor Bike Training will be similar to last year. Each Saturday, Rob will teach a session and will prepare a 'homework assignment' for members to take home to do during the week. We are also exploring the opportunity to incorporate the South Fletcher's facility into brick workouts (Pool, Weight Room).

We will also have access to change room and shower facilities at South Fletchers for the Indoor Bike Training classes.

The cost for the 20 coached Indoor Bike Training sessions is $150. This works out to just under $7.50 per session (a substantial savings from last year). This cost is based on 24 members signing up for the 20 coached Indoor Bike Training sessions.

The Indoor Bike Training sessions are open to FMCT members only. Members who choose not to sign up in advance will be allowed to 'pay as you go' but the cost will be per session.

Please contact Bill Vieira (billvieira @ yahoo.ca) and let him know that you are interested.
