When you are an endurance athlete you balance careers, families, friends with an internal drive that pushes you outside of these perimeters and commitments to pursue your sport. As often as we share this experience with others it is also a solitary time.

Club Championships
Once again this year, the Annual OAT Club Championships are being held at Guelph Lake. We participated as a club in this challenge last year and the participation by club members was impressive. So much so that we came second place in the participation competition (or was it third place). Well we'd like to try that again.

Race Report - Centurion Lake George
The Lake George Centurion began in Battleford Park, which is nestled in the bustling resort village of Lake George in the Adirondack Mountains.
At 6:30am, bright and early on Sunday morning, and decked in our Falcon shirts, we rolled into the starting corral, watching the mist rise from the lake.

The Birth of a Runner… by Michelle Jay
I wonder when a person might call himself or herself a runner??? I've never considered myself a runner. I run for health, for stress relief, and to add balance to my physical life. I don't really care about how far I go or how long it takes me, so when I signed up to run the 30 K around the Bay, I did not realize what I was getting myself into.

Rock and Roll Half Marathon - Las Vegas by Klaus Fritzsche
Last August we had the pleasure of having both our daughters and our grandson home for an extended visit. During that time, Kalina, our youngest, announced that she had joined a running group and their target race was the Rock and Roll half marathon taking place in Las Vegas on Dec 4. I was thrilled because, although Kalina has always been active, up to now she had never embraced the sport as I had. Then when she asked me to train along with her and come to Vegas and run with her I was blown away! She then went on to explain that it was also a fund raiser for the Crohn's and Colitis foundation of America - a cause I am all too personally familiar with. I was in!

Ironman Kona Race Report by Hans Porten
It was an exciting year 2011. First Ironman ever in Austria and already qualified for Kona. Yeh, Kona, it is a different race. It may take 4-6 attempts to understand the course, the weather, the wind, the heat, the hills, the water, the waves, the run course, and many other details. For example the bottleneck at the turn around during the swim, not wider than 5-6m; artificially created by boats to make sure something ironmanlike happens during the swim.

Syracuse 70.3 Race Report by Angela Nardella
So as some of you may know I was actually supposed to do the Steelhead 70.3 race in August. Unfortunately I ended up being on heavy duty meds including puffers so I had to pull out from that race. On the way home from Michigan I was looking into races in September that might work out. Luckily I found one, Syracuse.

2011 Ironman Journey Story by Joseph Park
While I write this "shameless self promotional Ironman report", I have a big grin on my face from the 2011 Ironman Canada race (3.8Km Swim / 180Km Bike / 42.2Km Run) as I am feeling much better than I expected. I wanted to feel little bit of the pain but there really isn't much pain. Really!! But there is a little bit of welcoming aches and discomfort when I move around.

Ironman Louisville, 2011 by Dianne Morrison
Anne Marie asked for a story so I just have to share.
After Louisville last year I realized this year that I really need to work on swimming without my wetsuit. So as soon as the canal warmed up enough, so I wouldn't squeal like Scott, I was swimming without the wetsuit.

2011 Ironman Austria by Abilio Vieira
Saturday, May 14th, 2011, I was six weeks away from Ironman Austria and I had met up with the Saturday morning cycling group, getting ready to go out for a 100km ride. Now normally at this time of my Ironman Training Schedule, my main concern would be trying to keep from overtraining. However, that was not the case this time around. A little bit of mental burnout from Ironman Florida, a busy work schedule, and a leg injury from the Boston Marathon, had all impacted on my normal Ironman preparation.

Boxing Day 10 Miler by Richard Westwood
This was my 6th year running the annual Boxing Day 10 Miler. It has become somewhat of a tradition. This year marked the 90th running of the event that ranks up there with the Boston Marathon and Around the Bay as among the oldest road races in North America.

Egg Nog Jog by Larry Bradley
Once again I walk away from a recent race not knowing exactly how to feel. I thought the effort was there but the result did not translate. It seemed that way for many, due to weather conditions, but a few made large moves forward over last year's time including second place finisher, Kyle Ferguson, who made a huge jump in position and time over his 2009 posting.

Egg Nog Jog by Richard Westwood
Saturday's temperature was quite mild so that sort of set the tone for what I chose to wear race morning: shorts and a t-shirt. What seemed like a warm drizzle, when I left the house, appeared as this not so funny looking white stuff by the time I reached King Road.

Timberman 70.3 - Race Novel by Larry Bradley
It was a roller coaster ride leading up to what I had designated as my 'A' Race of 2010. I had countless doubts and low moments over the past nine months, since I had purchased my entrance into this Ironman 70.3 event, so when I finally made a full commitment at the start of August, I knew I had to attack the challenge with all my ability.

2009 Ironman 70.3 World Championships by Bill Vieira
On September 13th, 2009, I participated in the Muskoka 70.3 Triathlon and was fortunate to get a qualifying spot for the 70.3 World Championships during the rolldown that took place after the race. Almost immediately after Muskoka, the weather turned colder/windier/wetter and the days became shorter. It also saw the hibernation of my training partners and I must admit a little lack of motivation on my part.

It is hard to imagine that just over 2 years ago I wasn't able to run one block without losing my breath and having to walk. Lakeside 2 - Sprint Triathlon (Larry Bradley)
With my duathlon racing all wrapped up for 2009, I figured it was time to get some open water experience for 2010. The HSBC Triathlon Series' Lakeside 2 aligned perfectly with my previous schedule and allowed me to stay in game shape while getting a few weeks of swimming under my belt.

Guelph II - Duathlon Race Report by Larry Bradley
What a great way to wrap up the 2009 Subaru Duathlon season! The 2009 Niagara Duathlon was not on my schedule heading into this weekend but I was itching to race a short distance event since we have been racing many international and long distances for the past few months.
