Mud Run by Judy Kuban

Mud Run Race Report

Hello fellow FMCT members! I just wanted to let you know that I participated in the "Mud Run" held on Sunday, June 6, at the Clairville Conservation Area. My daughter and I ran the 5k event, which was her very first race (and a good choice at that!).

In spite of the rainy cold weather, I have to say that in my short history of races, it was easily the most fun race I have participated in. The "Mud Run" is a well organized chip-timed trail race that takes you through fields, up hills, through forests, and even navigates through rivers. The race comes in two lengths -- a 5k and a 10k -- and there is also a 1.5k run for the kids (with or without the parents). You can participate as a solo runner or race as a team. There were many people dressed in costumes which added to the overall fun. There are prizes that go to the best costume, fastest stud, diva, teen and kid. The race ends in a huge mud pit, which you must roll through to get to the finish line, with a prize going to the dirtiest runner!

At the time of writing this, I still do not know my finishing time, but with a race this fun, it is somehow irrelevant! My daughter and I will definitely do the "Mud Run" again next year. I hope to see many of you out there in the mud, too!

This is your permission to get dirty!
